As a Drafting & Graphic Design Associate, you will be responsible for all aspects of the concept, design, and pre-production of complete sign packages while staying within the scope of the project as directed by the Lead Graphic Designer, Lead Engineer, Sales Representatives, and, at times, the client.

As a Drafting & Graphic Design Associate, you will be responsible for all aspects of the concept, design, and pre-production of complete sign packages while staying within the scope of the project as directed by the Lead Graphic Designer, Lead Engineer, Sales Representatives, and, at times, the client. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s in graphic design or a related field, at least 2 years of experience in the sign industry, and have familiarity with wide-format printing, use of CAD programs for 2D and 3D modeling, custom-routed sign shapes, fabricated sign cabinets, and ADA signage.
This position demands an efficient, detail-oriented, and resourceful designer with the ability to produce quality visual concepts that will then be branded into sign/graphics packages. In addition, the ideal candidate will also be expected to manage sign package projects in an organized and effective manner from initial concept to production.
You will spend most of your time working independently on design projects and collaboratively with the design team and engineer team while occasionally working with clients directly to further determine the direction of a project.

Essential Functions
- Provide outstanding client service, both internally and externally.
- Coordinate with Graphic Design Lead on project scope and deadline.
- Conduct Discovery meetings and provide Discovery documentation.
- Assist with discovery boards and project concepts.
- Aid Sales Team in site surveys for large scale projects to facilitate creative direction and propose graphic areas of interest.
- Develop graphics for product illustrations, logos, websites, and print.
- Create and develop relevant and effective brands.
- Create and illustrate 3D, multi-media signs and cohesive sign packages.
- Work within existing brand guidelines.
- Maintain workflow deadlines and communicate with Graphic Design Lead, staff, and/or client when delays are experienced.
- Read and interpret finishing details on Quotes and Work Orders.
- Consult with Engineering as needed on projects to determine scope and capabilities.
- Assist Engineering with drafting and print detailing, along with basic 3D modeling of custom signs under direction of Lead Engineer.
- Understand basic dimensioning and tolerancing on part drawings.
- Read architectural and structural engineer prints.
- Track revision changes to drawings and update Fabrication Team and vendors accordingly.
- Create accurate customer proofs of proposed artwork containing production and installation guidelines.
- Incorporate changes recommended by the clients into the final design.
- Review designs for errors before print or publish.
- Prepare and prepress print files for Production.
- Complete projects on time by coordinating with Sales Team, clients, outside agencies, art services, printers, etc.
- Communicate with clients via email, phone, video chat, and in-person, as needed.
- Maintain that projects’ production files are processed accurately for in-house, outsource, fabrication, and engineering.
- Maintain project file structure.
- Keep a clean and organized workspace.
- Manage time effectively and hold yourself accountable to deadlines.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending design workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field.
- 2 years of experience in the sign industry.
- Large format and flatbed printing background.
- Proven ability to produce visually branded designs.
- Extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. Particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Knowledge and experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software (Inventor, ProEngineer, etc.).
- Captivating design presentation.
- Understands color processing.
- Create and illustrate 3-Dimensional, multi-media signs.
- Prior computer aided drafting and technical communication experience.
